Cut The Appendage Off

So it appears that with Obama's sizable lead in the polls, what many of us thought would come to pass?

Is now coming to pass

Many of us predicted that as Mitt failed in his campaign, much of the donor money would begin to dry up, and that those donors would begin to shift their dollars into the many down ticket races.

They realize the dying limb that is Mitt-Ryan and are now literally taking the extreme angle and cutting the dying limb from the party in an attempt to save said party position. Like the Civil War doctor that would cut a gangrene limb to save the body, they are in full on panic mode.

from the huff

Fox Business' Charlie Gasparino reports that some wealthy donors who have made financial commitments to the Romney campaign are reneging, and instead, opting to send their money to Republican House and Senate candidates who they see as having a better chance of winning next month.g next month.
So its coming to pass exactly as those of us in the blogosphere have predicted, barring some massive game change between now and Nov, Romney supporters have honestly ceased to be Romney supporters and now are shifting their support to the down tickets in an attempt to blunt the coat tails the president is surely to have.

Just to give an idea of how much of a difference this could have, again from the huffpo

The Obama campaign -- along with Obama's victory committee and the Democratic National Committee -- raised $114 million in August. The Romney campaign, combined with Romney Victory and Republican National Committee, trailed by a little more than $2 million, raising $111.6 million during the same period.

At the end of August, however, the RNC had more than ten times the cash of the DNC, according to the Hill.

So we have done an AMAZING job supporting our President towards his reelection and his campaign for such. We've done our GOTV efforts, and the polling is in our favor. In short team blue? We're winning the top ticket.

But now we need to shift slightly and start towards blunting the spears of our opponents in these down tickets as donors shift their funds. A great example of this is my local IN-2, a seat that Donnelly left to seek for Senate. It features Brendan Mullen vs Jackie Walorski and Warlorski has out raised Mullen by over 200k so far.

This is a seat that though while technically speaking should be a D keeper, because of redistricting is at risk. And though while Mullen might be a blue dog much like Donnelly, we need as many Dems as we can possibly get. The big money shift from Mittens to the downtickets could make a huge difference in these races, but we need to push back.

GOTV, Act Blue, and Work Like We're 2 Points Down
